A Cold Snap’s Coming…Are You Preparing with Heating Maintenance?

As we prepare for colder weather the next couple of days, it helps to understand proper heating maintenance. At Keller Services Heating and Air Conditioning our goal is to keep your family comfortable.

The calls we receive for service and/or repair are usually due to problems that could have easily been found during a regular maintenance. Heating maintenance is beneficial to the health and comfort of your family by sparing you the headache of urgent repairs in the midst of a cold snap.

A malfunctioning HVAC system can easily cost you thousands of dollars in repairs or a system replacement. We strongly recommend preventative maintenance as the best way to avoid expensive and often inconvenient problems. Just like the cars we drive, without regularly scheduled maintenance and tune-ups, the car would be unable to perform, and leave you stranded.

Here are a couple of things you can do to help your unit perform at its best:

Check and Replace Your Filter.

It’s one of the most overlooked and easiest things you can do to keep your unit running properly. We recommend that you check your filter monthly. The frequency with which you would change your filter depends on several factors such as the type of unit you have, the size of your home, the number of people living in the home, number of pets you have, and/or allergies. You may need to change your filter as often as every two to three months or you may be able to go up to six months without a filter change. The key is to check monthly. Commit to Regular Preventative Heating Maintenance.

Regular heating and air conditioning system maintenance benefits include: a decrease in costly repairs, extension of equipment lifespan, increased energy efficiency, and maintained system performance. Spending a little bit of money upfront can save you quite a bit of money in the long run.
